The Dissection Drawings of Sir Frederick Treves

In the 1880's, Sir Frederick held the unbelievably cool position of dissector at the London Zoo, which allowed him the extraordinary oppotunity to study comparative anatomy. Sir Frederick, ever curious , made the most of this opportunity, and created a series of lovely watercolors of the gastrointestinal tracts of the animals he examined. These, well really works of art are held with Sir Frederick's papers at the Royal College of Surgeons (England) and a selection are reproduced here with permission.
